About Lois
I was born and raised in Scotland, and after high school I moved to Germany for what was meant to be a year — and ended up staying. In 2017 I settled in Berlin, working as a freelance midwife with a focus on homebirths.
In 2021, during my first pregnancy, I continued supporting families at their homebirths right up until I gave birth to our daughter in our little flat. In 2022 I went straight back to accompanying families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum care — and in spring 2023, our son arrived at home, in the bath.
After a busy summer, our second daughter was born at home in autumn 2024, in the same pool and the same room where I'd welcomed our eldest three years earlier.
I now live by the sea and care for families across the Edinburgh area and Scotland. Becoming a mother has given my practice a depth I couldn't have anticipated — new instincts, new patience, new understanding of what families are really going through. I feel grateful every day to do this work in a way that feels right to me, as a practitioner and as a woman.
